The 90’s began with a Gretzky-less Oiler team claiming their fifth Stanley Cup ® and “Super Mario’s’ Penguins winning back-to-back championships. Teams of past glory welcomed the Stanley Cup ® home when the Rangers brought the title to Manhattan in ’94 for the first time in 54 years. Steve Yzerman led his Red Wings to back-to-back championships in ’97 and ’98 which is what the team did in ’54 and ’55 when they last claimed the Cup.
