The 50’s saw two teams dominate the NHL, the Montreal Canadiens and the Detroit Red Wings. The Habs would collect five Stanley Cups ® in the decade while the Red Wings claimed four. These “Original Six” TM years would see such greats as Gordie Howe and Maurice Richard lead their teams to outstanding regular seasons and onto playoff success.
